Foundations Assessment Manager

Foundations Child & Family Therapy, founded in 2017, is a child and family therapy clinic offering a multidisciplinary range of support tailored to children and families, including individual and family therapy, parent consultation, schoolbased interventions, ADHD and Autism assessments, and training for partner agencies. We walk alongside children, young people and their families to foster healing, resilience and emotional wellbeing, delivering accessible, evidenceinformed care that drives positive outcomes. Our multidisciplinary team of Directors, Clinical Leads, Therapists, Associates, Administrative staff and Supervision Consultants work closely with families, schools and health partners to continually refine clinical pathways and ensure compassionate, highquality support.

Job Summary

The Assessment Manager is responsible for the effective coordination, oversight and delivery of Foundations’ Autism and ADHD assessment service, managing the pathway from preassessment through to postdiagnostic followup. The role holder will ensure highquality, timely and compliant care for children, young people and families, working closely with the Clinical Director, Deputy Clinical Director, clinicians and the administration team to uphold professional and NICE standards.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Assessment delivery and pathway management

Lead and coordinate the endtoend delivery of Foundations’ Autism and ADHD assessment service from initial enquiry to assessment outcomes and feedback, ensuring highquality practice in line with NICE and professional guidelines including:

  • Process referrals and upload records to the clinical system promptly and maintain accurate, uptodate client files.
  • Manage triage and allocation of cases in collaboration with the Clinical Director and administrative team.
  • Book and manage assessments to meet target timelines, proactively handling any cancellations and rescheduling to minimise disruption to clinicians and clinic operations.
  • Oversee room bookings and liaise with the Clinic Administrator to ensure appropriate space and equipment.
  • Send full diagnostic reports and postdiagnostic information, including interim diagnostic letters, medication information and referrals.
  • Schedule and document clinician led feedback sessions and ensure feedback is delivered promptly.

2. Communication and client support

  • Manage the assessments mailbox and respond to correspondence promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure clients and schools receive assessment questionnaires and reminders in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Answer and return client calls throughout the assessment process, offering empathic support and clear information.
  • Notify clinicians quickly of cancellations, safeguarding concerns or other urgent issues.

3. Administration and finance duties

  • Maintain the report tracker to ensure reports are produced on time and editors are allocated when appointments are confirmed.
  • Maintain therapist availability and capacity records to support effective allocation and waitlist management.
  • Issue and track invoices in line with SLAs and ensure timely processing.
  • Support the smooth running of group sessions and wider Clinic activities and undertake other reasonable administrative duties to support the service.

4. Service quality, reporting and development

  • Monitor client and associate feedback, including monthly satisfaction data, and act on trends.
  • Support the Deputy Clinical Director with monitoring and reporting on service performance, outcomes and data quality.
  • Contribute to service development by updating website content, referral documents and client resources and identifying opportunities to improve client experience and operational efficiency.

5. Professional standards and safeguarding

  • Uphold safeguarding, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and data quality standards across all activities.
  • Ensure clinicians are informed of any safeguarding concerns before appointments.
  • Adhere to professional, clinical and regulatory standards, engage in continuing professional development and participate in supervision and relevant training.
  • Attend relevant training, conferences, and sector events to maintain professional growth.


Candidate Specification:

1. Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant professional qualification (or academic equivalent) in a related field such as health, education, social care, counselling, psychology, or business.
  • Experience of effective multiagency working, including collaboration with schools, healthcare services, and community partners.
  • Strong understanding of children’s emotional wellbeing and mental health, including awareness of neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, data protection requirements, and information governance standards.
  • Commitment to inclusive, familycentred practice, ensuring services are accessible, respectful, and responsive to diverse needs.
  • Right to work in the UK, alongside satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS check prior to appointment.

2. Essential Skills:

  • Strong organisational ability, with confidence managing multiple schedules, waitlists, and competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal communication, able to communicate confidently with diverse stakeholders (children, families, schools and professionals) and adapt tone and style to suit the audience.
  • Highquality written communication, producing clear emails, accurate records, and handling reports with precision.
  • Competent ICT skills, including confident use of casemanagement systems, Microsoft Office, and videoconferencing tools to organise workflows and share information securely.
  • Good numeracy and datareporting skills, able to produce basic performance reports, manage invoicing, and ensure numerical information is accurate and up to date.

3. Desirable Requirements:

  • Further training or qualifications in leadership and management; Autism and ADHD awareness; Safeguarding and child protection.
  • Experience coordinating or facilitating autism and ADHD assessments.
  • Experience managing referral pathways or service appointment processes.
  • Experience contributing to service development, quality assurance, or audit activity.
  • Knowledge of NICE guidelines and bestpractice approaches within autism and ADHD assessment pathways.
  • Understanding of outcomebased commissioning and its implications for service delivery.

Deputy Clinical Director

Role Overview

The Deputy Clinical Director will lead and co-ordinate both the therapy and neurodevelopmental assessment services within Foundations Child Therapy. This includes overseeing therapeutic interventions for children and young people with emotional wellbeing needs, autism, ADHD, and related conditions, as well as supporting high-quality autism and ADHD assessments. The role combines leadership, operational management, and service co-ordination, ensuring that all services are delivered to the highest professional and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior clinical leadership across therapy and assessment pathways.
  • Conduct a minimum of five autism/ADHD assessments per week (within professional competency).
  • Oversee referral management, triage, and allocation of therapy cases.
  • Support service delivery to ensure timely, outcome-focused interventions.
  • Provide coordination support to the Assessment Manager and maintain effective workflow across assessment pathways.
  • Monitor and report on service performance, outcomes, and data quality.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and professional development to team members.
  • Ensure safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection standards are upheld at all times.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, healthcare professionals, and families.
  • Support continuous improvement, innovation, and service development.

Professional Development & Governance

  • Engage in regular clinical supervision.
  • Participate in annual appraisals and continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Support best practice and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Location & Working Pattern

  • Hybrid working: two days in office, three days remote.
  • When the post-holder relocates to Kent, arrangement will shift to three days office, two days remote.
  • Some travel to other sites or clinical events may be required.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Clinical experience within neurodevelopmental or mental health services.
  • Competence in assessment, formulation, and clinical decision-making.
  • Strong written communication skills and high-quality report-writing ability.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, ethics, and clinical governance.

Desirable Skills

  • Prior experience completing autism and/or ADHD assessments.
  • Training in standardised diagnostic tools (e.g., ADI-R, ADOS-2, QBCheck/QbTest).
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Understanding of NICE guidance relating to neurodevelopmental assessment.
